벨라루시 민스크에서 열리고 있는 2012 ISU 세계 주니어 피겨선수권 대회의 여자싱글 예선이 둘째날인 2월 27일에 펼쳐졌다.
케틀린 오스몬드 (캐나다), 여자싱글 예선 1위
캐나다의 케틀린 오스몬드가 중국의 자오지콴과 한국의 김해진을 제치고 여자싱글 예선에서 1위에 올랐다.
케틀린 오스몬드는 "서주와 론도 카프리치오소" 프로그램에서 트리플 럿츠를 포함한 총 4개의 트리플 점프를 성공시키며 97.36의 점수를 기록했다. 오스몬드는 다음과 같이 소감을 밝혔다. "정말 최고로 기분이 좋았어요. 지금까지 제가 했던 최고 경기중의 하나였거든요. 컴피에서 트리플 럿츠 점프를 시도한 것은 처음이었는데 정말 깔끔하게 성공했어요. 트리플 럿츠 점프는 11월에 열린 [캐나다] 지역예선 직후에 처음으로 랜딩했지만, 한달 전에 있었던 [캐나다] 내셔널 직후에도 안정적이지 않았어요. 어떻게 될지 한번 시도해보자고 생각했습니다."
자오지콴은 더블악셀-트리플 토 콤비 점프 이외에도 5개의 트리플 점프를 성공하며 시즌 베스트 94.53을 기록했다. "저한테는 정말 좋은 경기였어요. 그리고 퍼스널 베스트 스코어를 얻었죠." 14세 스케이터 자오는 다음과 같이 덧붙였다. "이번 대회에서 저의 목표는 제가 할 수 있는 모든 것을 보여주고 후회없이 경기하는 거에요."
김해진은 "멘델스존의 바이올린 협주곡"에 맞추어 연기를 했다. 그녀는 트리플 토-트리플 토 콤비점프와 4개의 다른 트리플 점프를 성공시켰지만, 트리플 플립에서 넘어지면서 93.97의 점수를 얻었다. 14세의 한국에서 온 스케이터는 자신의 경기에 대해 다음과 같이 말했다. "처음에는 약간 긴장했어요. 주니어 세계선수권 대회에 처음으로 참가했거든요. 심리적으로 약간 흔들렸지만, 최선을 다하고 싶었고, 그래서 괜찮은 경기였다고 생각합니다. 아쉽다면 트리플 플립 점프를 할 때 속도를 충분히 내지 못했어요. 그리고 콤비네이션 스핀이 레벨1을 받았는데, 다음에는 레벨4를 꼭 받고 싶습니다."
예선에는 36명의 주니어 여싱들이 참석해, 그중 12명의 상위 성적자와 개최국인 벨라루시의 크리스티나 자카랑카가 쇼트 프로그램에 진출했다.

ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championshiops 2012, Preliminary Round 2
The ISU World Junior Figure Skating Championships 2012 continued in Minsk, Belarus, on February 27 with the Preliminary Round for Ladies.
Kaetlyn Osmond (CAN) wins Ladies Preliminary Round
Kaetlyn Osmond of Canada placed first in the Junior Ladies Preliminary Round followed by China's Ziquan Zhao and Hae-Jin Kim of Korea.
Performing to “Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso”, Osmond completed four triples including a triple Lutz and two level-four spins. The Canadian scoerd 97.36 points. “It felt best. It was one of my best skates ever. It was the first time I tried it (the triple Lutz in competition) and it worked really well. I landed it the first time right after sectionals in November, and then I didn't really get it consistent until after Nationals which was a months ago. I thought I try it, see how it goes”, Osmond said.
Zhao produced a double Axel-triple toe and five more triple jumps to score a seasons best of 94.53 points. “This was a really good program for me, and it is a personal best score”, the 14-year-old commented. “My goal for this competition is to show everything I can do and to have no regrets”, she added.
Kim's program to Mendelssohn's Concerto for Violin and Orchestra included a triple toe-triple toe combination and four other triples but she fell on a triple flip. The Korean earned 93.97 points. “I was a little nervous at the beginning. I am competing in my first Junior Worlds. I felt a little shaky, but I wanted to give my best and I think it was ok. I didn't have enough speed on my triple flip and my combination spin was a level one and it should be a level four next time”, the 14-year-old shared.
36 Junior Ladies competed in the Preliminary Round. The top 12 and Kristina Zakharanka (BLR) as the host country's entry qualified for the Short Program.
